10 Famous Rock Music Videos Made On A Small Budget

5. We’re Going To Be Friends - The White Stripes

What do you do if you're a drummer in a band, but the song you're making a music video for doesn't have any drums in it? Why, you take a nap, of course!

That's precisely the dilemma that faced Meg White when it came time to film something for The White Stripes' We're Going to Be Friends.

Taken from their legendary White Blood Cells album, which was also made on the cheap, the song is Jack White sat at his guitar singing about the thrills of making a new friend on the first day of school.

Despite not appearing on the track, Meg still turns up in the video. As Jack plays the song sat on a sofa outside of a house, Meg is lying next to him, fast asleep. It's not like she had anything better to do.

We're Going to be Friends is such a simple song that a video like this fits it to a tee. Meg could have easily sat this out, but there was no way that The White Stripes were going to miss an opportunity to make things a little bit odd.
