10 Famous Rock Music Videos Made On A Small Budget
6. Shakermaker - Oasis
Before they put out their industry-shifting debut album Definity Maybe in August 1994, Oasis released three songs from the record as singles.
The second one to see the light of day was Shakermaker, which came out around two months ahead of the album. Though it isn't as fondly remembered as the other two tracks, Supersonic and Live Forever, it will certainly go down in history for its unique music video.
Shakermaker's promotional clip was recorded in Burton Road, Manchester, just down the street from where Liam and Noel Gallagher grew up. The video is shots of the band playing their instruments outside, sitting on a sofa, and then having a impromptu game of football.
There's also a cat, which should be a feature of every music video.
Beyond the cost of the cameras (and whatever fee the cat charged), very little money went into this. That's sort of the point, though, as it was designed to convey Oasis as salt of the earth, which would become a major part of their appeal in their battle against Blur.
Hopefully whoever edited this got paid well, as that's where the real magic is.
