10 Famous Songs You Had No Idea Were Covers

10. Natalie Imbruglia €“ Torn (RCA)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1SH1YdITDI Selling over four million copies worldwide and declared the best pop song of all time by Q magazine, 'Torn' was a huge hit for Natalie Imbruglia in numerous countries and has become her signature track. However, the song doesn't officially belong to her; it was initially an on-the-spot creation during a demo recording session by obscure American alternative group, Ednaswap. The original is a melancholy, guitar-driven anthem, raw in every sense - a far cry from the polished melodies of Imbruglia's version. 'Torn' has been covered extensively by a host of artists. It has also become something of a favourite on TV talent shows, with contestants such as Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction performing their own renditions on Canadian Idol and The X Factor respectively.
