8. The Kingsmen Louie Louie (Jerden)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RZJ4ESU52U Many popular bands and artists have credited the controversial 'Louie Louie' by the Kingsmen as a song they found greatly inspirational. In fact, 'Louie Louie' by The Kingsmen is widely considered one of the most influential tracks of all time, and over 50 years later is still being frequently covered by artists. The thing is, 'Louie Louie' by The Kingsmen was originally 'Louie Louie' by Richard Berry. Unsatisfied with his creation's lack of success, Berry sold the rights to the track four years later. Despite being a nice, gentle song about a Jamaican sailor returning home to see his girlfriend, The Kingsmen's cover is notorious for being subject to an FBI investigation on the grounds of obscenity. Thankfully, they later seemed to realise that this was a bit silly, and ultimately nobody was prosecuted.
