10 Fascinating Backstories Behind Famous Rock Band's Names

2. Yo-Ho-Homage - Bring Me The Horizon

The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are easily the most successful films based on a Disney theme park ride, although that is a shallow pool if ever there was one.

Before it was a billion dollar franchise, the first Pirates adventure, The Curse of the Black Pearl, performed well at the box office and somehow landed Johnny Depp a Best Actor nomination at the Oscars! For playing a drunken pirate!

He may not have scooped the award, but Captain Jack Sparrow did leave a lasting impact on a group of budding musicians from Sheffield in the United Kingdom.

Towards the end of the movie, Sparrow looks out over the ocean and says "Bring Me That Horizon". The British lads tweaked that phrase slightly, giving rise to the extremely popular Bring Me the Horizon.

Since that fateful viewing experience, the band have gone on to release six studio albums, work with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Sigrid, and inspire millions of fans to invest in some eyeliner and get their hands tattooed.

Now that's a legacy worth more than any buried treasure.
