10 Final Songs That Will Give You Chills
6. Brainwashed - George Harrison
Losing any one of the Beatles for a rock fan feels like a death in the family. I mean, these are the four moptops who became an integral part of rock and roll and still manage to have staying power half a century after they made their final statement. While John Lennon's Just Like Starting Over certainly does feel spooky after his murder, there's a stronger case to be made with George Harrison's Brainwashed.
Since most of his final outing was made while he was at death's door, a few of the individual songs from the Quiet Beatle tend to feel more like odds and ends than a final artistic statement. The title track at the end of the record does feel slightly spooky though, with his son Dhani harmonizing with him on this calming prayer set to music. Seriously...it's almost uncanny how much Dhani manages to sound like his old man in spots.
There was no other choice but to put this song at the end too, sounding like George is leaving us with his own funeral dirge as he lays his soul down to rest for one final time. Even though most rock star deaths tend to be unexpected, it's nice to know that George had a peaceful finale before entering the afterlife.
