When Oasis arrived in the studio to start recording What's the Story Morning Glory, it was time to start pulling out the big guns. Since Definitely Maybe had already set the world on fire with classics like Rock n Roll Star and Live Forever, this was the moment to really hunker down and show the audience that this was just the beginning of the action. While songs like Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova were about to come down the pipeline, Bonehead's Bank Holiday was a nice way to break up the tension.

During the main recording sessions, things had gone fairly straightforward, until Noel decided to write this song about the group's rhythm guitarist and a fanciful tale about what he did on his holidays.
