10 Good Songs That Were Made AMAZING By Their Music Video
9. Walk This Way - Run-DMC And Aerosmith
Run-DMC are seen as gods in hip hop circles thanks to their groundbreaking 80's output. While their interpolation of "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith broke down barriers between rock and hip hop, the final product felt a bit cheeky when you heard it on the record. Once the band called up Aerosmith to appear in the video, the song went nuclear.
At this point though, Aerosmith were not really considered a rock juggernaut. With Joe Perry leaving the band and the band's comeback album Done With Mirrors waning, this experimental track could have backfired spectacularly. Instead of falling on its face, this unique blend of rap and rock helped shatter everyone's illusions as to what pop music was "supposed" to sound like. In an era when hip hop and rock and roll seemed like polar opposites, here were two artists coming together to create the ideal hybrid of the two genres.
For any other great act, having a cover instead of a kickass original tune on an album feels like a missed opportunity. However, when it comes to this version of "Walk This Way," Run-DMC and Aerosmith created something that became much bigger than anything they could have done on their own.
