10 Great Hard Rock Songs Under 2 Minutes Long

8. Vaseline - Elastica

The mid-90s UK music scene was dominated by men.

Come to think of it, it's still dominated by men today, but that's getting off topic.

With bands like Oasis, Blur, and Pulp selling hundreds of thousands of records, it didn't seem like there was much room for female musicians in the rock scene.

And then along came Elastica.

On their self-titled debut album, three of the four members of Elastica were women. This included lead singer Justine Frischmann, a former member of Suede and the daughter of the guy who engineered the NatWest tower in London.

We're getting off topic again, aren't we?

The album was a huge hit, spawning three top 20 singles and charting at the very top of the UK ladder. It's got several songs on it that run under 120 seconds, the best being Vaseline.

The song is basically everything good about the band in a single shot; crunchy guitars, chugging basslines, beautiful singing from Frischmann. What more could you possibly want?

Well, if you were an Elastica fan back in the day, then you probably wanted them to release more than two albums.
