10 Great Rock Albums With Terrible Titles

7. The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get - Joe Walsh

Prior to joining Eagles in 1975, singer and guitarist Joe Walsh was an established solo star, and a big part of his success had come from this 1973 release.

Walsh, who had previously been part of The Measles, James Gang, and Barnstorm, put out his first solo album to rave reviews, mostly thanks to the epic country rocker, Rocky Mountain Way.

That would have been a phenomenal title for the whole project, but Joe couldn't help but make a stupid pun.

The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get is possibly a play on the phrase "The higher you get the better you play", but even Wikipedia declares this to be a case of "Citation Needed". Also, is that even a phrase? Or was Joe just riding high himself when he came up with this utterly rubbish name?

Considering that Walsh has enjoyed a long and prosperous career ever since this release, recently teaming up with Ringo Starr to co-head his All-Starr Band, it's hard to say anything too negative about this album's title.

Actually, no it's not - it's awful and he should be ashamed of himself.
