10 Great Rock & Metal Albums From 2018 You May Have Missed
4. Follow The Cipher - Follow The Cipher
Ken Kängström did some song writing for Sabaton's Carolus Rex and The Last Stand albums and eventually decided he needed to branch out and make his own band. Thus, Follow the Cipher was born. Mixing Euro Pop, Video Game-like Synthesizers, and Power Metal, their self-titled debut is sure to grab your attention.
Power Metal is one of the most fun sub-genres within Metal due to its ability to be bombastic and over-the-top. In movies you would call this camp, but in Metal it's simply ridiculous and that's what makes it so much fun. Each song has some clever hook and chorus that you'll find yourself wanting to sing along to (assuming you can reach the same high notes Linda Toni Grahn can) or simply just fist-pumping until your arm gives out.
No song overstays its welcome, and thus the album can often fly by due to the variety and different things you get to hear over the course of its eleven track run.
