10 Great Rock & Metal Albums From 2018 You May Have Missed

3. Visigoth - Conqueror's Oath

Jake Rogers, the man behind Caladan Brood and Gallowbraid, formed his third project Visigoth back in 2010. It wasn't until 2015 that the band released their debut The Revenant King to much fanfare. Three years later, Visigoth delivers another great power metal album: an anthem for the warrior queen.

Each song feels epic in its own right, which is most likely no surprise to any fan of Rogers's other work, and that only makes the listening experience that much more enjoyable. The album may not have any ridiculous shredding solos or absurdly fast songs that most have come to expect when listening to the traditional Power Metal present in Europe, but Visigoth prove that they don't need it to make a memorable album.

Fast songs do exist, like Warrior Queen or Salt City, but those songs don't exist to blow you away. Just like the other songs on this album, the goal is to tell the powerful story of the Warrior Queen: the Goddess of the Metal Storm.
