10 Great Songs By HATED Hard Rock Bands
2. My Sacrifice - Creed
What more can be said about Creed that hasn't been said in a thousand other ways across the Internet? The band's instrumentation was certainly good, but the entire band seemed to be kneecapped by the relentless yarling from frontman and walking meme Scott Stapp. Regardless of their frontman's pitfalls, nothing stopped the band's ascent up the charts with Human Clay, but Weathered was where everything started to unravel.
While Human Clay showed them achieving rock stardom, Weathered is the sound of a fractured band trying to cobble together enough good material to actually make a coherent album.
This was the point where most rock fans jumped ship, but the single "My Sacrifice" was a real upgrade from the band's usual sound. Sure, Stapp's voice is still as warbly as ever, but the core melody behind the tune is still strong enough even with its strange delivery.
The song also is put over the top by Mark Tremonti, whose subtle flourishes on the guitar seem to be aching for more exposure, which would eventually come to pass in Alter Bridge.
This is not going to make anyone's "favorite songs" list by any stretch, but it's a miracle that the band's strengths were able to come together for just a little bit.
