10 Great Things In Metal This Week (4th Dec)

7. Nick Johnston - Remarkably Human (UK Release)

He's not strictly metal, but that doesn't stop prog rock solo act Nick Johnston from being awesome.

Admittedly, his latest album Remarkably Human has been out in the US for quite some time, but on this Friday, the record will finally hit the shores of Blighty.

Progressive, calming, enticing and exciting, the instrumentalist Johnston's skills on the strings speak for themselves on such glorious efforts as "Poisonous Touch" and the tranquil "Fear Had Him by the Throat".

It may not be as heavy as the other entries in this week's list, but metalheads that adore genre-bending rockers like Dream Theater and TesseracT will doubtlessly also love this experimental virtuoso and his lengthy, unpredictable compositions.
