10 Greatest Albums Of 2016
4. Glass Animals - How To Be A Human Being
Glass Animals are an English indie rock band who hail from Oxford. Though they've only released two records so far, they've quickly become one of the most interesting modern indie projects around. Their debut album Zada was a critically acclaimed psychedelic pop record that utilised primarily obscure tropical percussion and jungle timbres, and though their second record sounds completely different, it's nevertheless just as special.
As the title suggests, How To Be A Human Being is way more interested in the expanse and diversity of humanity, rather than instrumentation. Each track tells the story of a different, textured character, like the guy who lives in grandmother's basement in Life Itself or the stoner girlfriend in Season 2 Episode 3.
What's impressive about How To Be A Human Being is how accomplished it sounds. Despite being Glass Animals' sophomore effort, it exudes the songwriting confidence of industry veterans, making it an absolutely essential 2016 listen.
