10 Greatest Anti-Love Songs In Rock Music History

4. You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi

Once the '80s got underway, we got pretty used to every single hair metal band doing their signature ballad. As soon as you make a name for yourself with the rockers, you have that one moment where everything comes down a notch and you get to sing a song for that special someone. Bon Jovi never fit in with the Sunset Strip crowd though, so it made sense that they'd go in the opposite direction.

Almost giving this song away to Loverboy, Bon Jovi teamed up with Desmond Child and created a mammoth hook with this song, telling off a cruel woman that he knows who ends up leaving everyone she sees with their hearts in pieces. The magic behind a song like this isn't even the lyrics about heartache though. It's all in the delivery.

Considering how much dark stuff is in this song, hearing the Jersey boys sing this song so passionately turns the entire equation on its head. Instead of sulking over this girl, it's like Jon is showing us a cautionary tale of what could happen if you go down the wrong path of love. Your first kiss may have been your first kiss goodbye, but you can at least celebrate the good times while they lasted.
