10 Greatest Australian Songs Of All Time

1. Friday On My Mind- The Easybeats

The oldest song on this list, but undoubtably the best, a perfect fusion of pop and rock that may never be bested. This 1966 number was their one true international hit, its ability to incorporate the 'catchy' 60's style with the ever growing rock influences of the time something that even The Beatles and Stones couldn't match.

The lyrics brilliantly encapsulates our feelings for the working week with a an almost melancholic mood representing the pain of the start of the week, before gradually picking up to a rocking crescendo as the weekend nears.

We are then transported to a night out in the city with our love, before lead vocalist Stevie Wright takes us to heights we could never have dreamed of. Wright's vocal range is mind blowing, matching Buddy Holly's low key moments before seamlessly transitioning to chords that Jagger could only dream of.

It is not just the greatest Australian song of all time, but one of the greatest songs of all time.
