9. I Touch Myself - The Divinyls

While Madonna was pushing boundaries with her overt expressions of her sexuality, Divinyls pushed it to new degrees in this song. Lead singer Chrissy Amphlett was always a singer who oozed sexuality, but never more so than in this hit. It's the kind of tune that feels perfect for a romantic weekend at a fancy hotel or a night out at a sleazy nightclub.

This sexually charged powerhouse of a tune was an international success without the getting the recognition it deserved, until an appearance in Austin Powers of all films made it a cult classic. The song received significant commercial airplay in 1990, the year of its release, possibly because the radio censors didn't quite twig on to what Amphlett was talking about.

It's hard to imagine anyone not getting what the singer was very clearly inferring, especially as she exclaims "eww, ah" repeatedly, before launching into the chorus one last time. It was a smash hit at the time, and if anything it's got better with age.
