6. Spicks + Specks - The Bee Gees

Okay, it may seem like a push to call The Bee Gees Australian, but for this one song, we're making an exception.

The Gibbs boys moved to Northern Australia as teenagers, and their first big hit was with this classic tune while citizens of the land down under. The Bee Gees were immediately claimed as local produce, and have remained so iconically Australian that a popular local TV show took the song's name as its title.

This Barry Gibbs number is a ripping tune from start to finish, Maurice's keyboards immediately setting the tone for this piece of pop perfection. The song was indicative of the trademark style that would take the world by storm, before they went down their commercially successful but critically bankrupt dance route.
