10 Greatest Band Rivalries In Rock History
4. Hole vs. Foo Fighters
For as much joy as Nirvana brought to the rock world, things weren't as rosy behind the scenes. While Dave Grohl was able to move on from his grunge past with the Foo Fighters a few years later, hedid have some pentup feelings about how his old bandmate's widow was dealing with everything.
Ever since the beginning of her time in the spotlight, Courtney Love was always looked at as the crazy girl behind the band Hole. Though she seemed to live up to her insane reputation, Grohl tended to see the more manufactured version of her personality. After some speculation, Grohl eventually confirmed that the Foos' "I'll Stick Around" is actually directed at Love, whose "rehearsed insanity" grated on him.
This started a near decade of Love lambasting Grohl in the press, from disagreeing over the future of Nirvana's music to accusing Grohl of making advances toward her daughter Frances Bean, which Frances has since denied. Though things looked incredibly grim for a while, their reconciliation at Nirvana's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction seems to show that the two are in a better place. Things may have been turbulent in the 90's, but the amount of good in Good Guy Grohl seems to know no limits these days.
