Led Zeppelin's debut is an absolute classic starting point for hard rock. Though it may be a bit rough around the edges, that lack of polish gives the music an added shot of energy. It's the sound of the band in their infancy, trying to figure out their sound.

The blues still has ahold of them at this stage, but "Dazed and Confused" was the first hint at things to come. The tune is originally based on a downward blues track by songwriter Jake Holmes, but what Zeppelin bring to the table injects the track with a sharp sonic sheen.
