10 Greatest Fleetwood Mac Albums
1. Rumours (1977)
Not only the enduring and definitive face of Fleetwood Mac as a group, but still one of the timeless pieces of art to have emerged from the 1970s, Rumours was released as the band's eleventh studio album in February 1977.
Born out of a desire to create a more Pop-sounding record that could really capitalise on the success of their two previous albums, Rumours houses some of the group's most successful and recognisable songs ever released. The likes of 'The Chain', 'Go Your Own Way', 'Don't Stop', 'You Make Loving Fun' and 'Dreams' all became staples in both live performances and greatest hits compilations, as well embedding themselves as recognisable tunes in the mainstream.
Rumours was notoriously fuelled by the turbulence and traumas in the personal relationships of the band members at the time, and this ability to produce the best music when at their absolute worst states in their lives totally embodies the beauty of Fleetwood Mac as a group over the years.
It's hard to overstate the impact and legacy of Rumours as an album for the band, their fans and the music industry on the whole.
It has, and will always be, an absolute timeless masterpiece.
