10 Greatest Hard Rock Debut Albums

6. Thunder – Backstreet Symphony

One of the most underrated bands in history, Thunder’s debut certainly followed suit, with its radio-friendly playability being totally underutilized since its release in 1990.

Featuring some of the best musical work of the era, the band members are a well-oiled machine throughout the album, gelling as well as, if not better than, some of the biggest bands of the time. It’s the guitar work of Luke Morley and Ben Matthews that shine above all, though, as it’s simple and catchy, but not afraid to venture into technical territory.

Backstreet Symphony was also a huge critical success, receiving praise as “one of the all-time great hard rock debuts”, and it was helped every step of the way by its lead singles Dirty Love, and Love Walked In, which are the bands biggest and most celebrated songs.
