The collaboration of Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and Elf lead singer Ronnie James Dio, this 1975 release was praised for its innovative rock style, incorporating fantasy-inspired lyrics and heavy riffs that were integral to the birth of heavy metal.

Getting off to an excellent start with opening track Man On The Silver Mountain, the album gave audiences a glimpse into the mind of Ronnie James Dio, who would go on to write the best fantasy lyrics in music for many years to come.
