7. Need You Tonight

Of all the songs from the Kick album, this was the one that signified the band's move away from a pub band and into something else entirely. And unlike fellow super band of the '80s, U2, INXS' evolving sounds were for the better.

Andrew Farriss famously came up with the tune while waiting for a taxi, rushing back up to his apartment to write down the tune before the moment was lost. Thank goodness he did, because it proved to be the track that made the band a worldwide sensation. The song was a top 5 hit around the world, including in the UK and the US, where it made it to the number one spot.

Hutchence sounds like a brooding sex god throughout this track, enticing the listener in to be his one and only, if just for a night. INXS had been many things to this point, but this was the first time they became truly sexy.
