10 Greatest ‘Legacy Of The Beast’ Set Songs From Iron Maiden

9. Aces High

When Iron Maiden were at the height of their fame in the mid-Eighties, they had just released their fifth album, the ancient Egyptian-themed Powerslave. Their subsequent 13-month World Slavery tour consisted of playing 193 shows in 28 countries, to an estimated 3.5 million people.

The intro to their set was a recording of the famous "We will fight them on the beaches" speech by Winston Churchill, with the band then coming out to this song inspired by the dog fights that took place in the skies of Britain during World War II.

Aces High has remained a classic, and on their latest tour Maiden have saved it for the encore where its impact is just as impressive on their crowd. It’s Maiden at their fastest and most furious, and a song which really exemplifies where they were as a band during their impressive rise.
