10 Greatest ‘Legacy Of The Beast’ Set Songs From Iron Maiden

8. Run To The Hills

One of three songs in the set from Iron Maiden’s classic third album, The Number Of The Beast (1982), which was their first to feature Bruce Dickinson on vocals, and the record that took Maiden to the next level.

Run To The Hills was one of their earliest hit singles that helped them break through in the US, and was written by Steve Harris about the white man’s invasion of native America. It is one of Maiden’s most well-known tracks with the crowd-pleasing singalong chorus of "Run to the hills, Run for your life" always sure to see audience participation.

Nico McBrain's thumping drum intro and the instantly recognisable, harmonised guitar leads give way to Maiden’s signature galloping style, and this is another track that remains one of the most played over the 40 proceeding years of touring - sitting proudly in the encore on The Legacy Of The Beast show.
