10 Greatest ‘Legacy Of The Beast’ Set Songs From Iron Maiden

2. Fear Of The Dark

One of the most anticipated tracks in Iron Maiden’s live arsenal, and the standout song from the early-Nineties era of Maiden is Fear Of The Dark, the title track from their 1992 album which would be their last with Bruce Dickinson singing before he left to pursue his solo career.

The song was recorded against the backdrop of a changing time in the Heavy Metal and Rock landscape, as the emergence of the alternative grunge music scene initially had a negative impact on the careers of traditional bands. However, Maiden eventually, of course, would go on to swat the threat aside, as they continued on the path of their legacy.

From the melodic opening of Fear Of The Dark, the crowd will chant along as Dickinson’s vocals build the tension, usually swathed against a backdrop of piercing blue lighting. This track absolutely drops like no other, with the huge chorus of, "Fear of the dark, fear of the dark. I have a constant fear that somethings always near" that will never fail to see the audience singing along in unison, at the top of their lungs..
