10 Greatest Male Rock Singers Of All Time

9. Devin Townsend

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57hs37Yq_3s Loosely speaking, metal can be considered a form of rock and so the inclusion of this next individual is not necessarily out of place. Hevy Devy is one of the most frighteningly powerful voices to have emerged in the metal scene and his textured and well considered solo releases appeal as much to the hard rockers and alt boys and girls as they do the metal heads. Discovered by genius guitarist Steve Vai, Devin Townsend made his debut on Vai€™s third solo album Sex and Religion and immediately raised eyebrows with his almost crushingly intense vocal delivery, which always maintains a unique and almost deranged sense of melody no matter how heavy. A sufferer of intense bipolar disorder, Townsend has in the past been committed at his own insistence. Despite this, he has forged a successful solo career and continues, to paraphrase Mr. Vai, to apply his own unique genius in ways that haven€™t been discovered yet. His influence can be heard in more mainstream acts like 30 Seconds To Mars and Linkin Park, but nobody has yet matched his intensity. RECOMMENDED LISTENING: Terria, Biomech
