4. Chris Cornell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9arrjhAeuQc Reigning as the king of the Seattle underground before Cobain fever exploded into the world, Chris Cornell has one of the finest rock voices known to man. With a natural baritone feel to his vocals, Cornell has the enviable ability to let rip and push his voice through the stratosphere, giving him an awesome range and an angsty rage that gives even Kurt a run for his money. Oh yes, and all the while he utilises unusual chord structures and melodies in his writing, giving him a truly recognisable and distinctive sound. And he wrote one of the best James Bond themes ever. Enough for inclusion here? No? Ok, well how about the fact that he has a prolific back catalogue that includes work with one of the Big Four Grunge bands (Soundgarden), one of the biggest rock bands of the 2000s (Audioslave) and critically acclaimed solo albums that span everything from alt rock to RnB. In other words, all hail King Chris. RECOMMENDED LISTENING: Euphoria Morning, Badmotorfinger, Temple of the Dog
