10 Greatest Masked Bands In Rock History

6. Hollywood Undead

Why did rap-rock group Hollywood Undead start wearing masks?

Was it to keep themselves anonymous, so that they could separate their creative selves from their ordinary lives?

Nah, it was just so they could do graffiti and no one would be able to tell it was them.

This attitude is hardly surprising coming from a band that doesn't take itself too seriously. Just look at some of the nicknames they've given themselves.

J-Dog, Johnny 3 Tears, Funny Man... Danny?

That's the best one of them could come up with? Shame on you, Danny!

The masks also probably help the group put some distance between themselves and their music, which goes pretty hard to say the least. No topic is off limits for the Undead, who will rap about basically anything over the top of a nu metal-style beat.

Although the masks have since stopped being a part of their act, most fans will remember the group for their unique former appearance.

In a genre where masks are usually linked to something dark, it was refreshing to see some masked-up dudes who just wanted to have a good time with some spray paint cans.
