10 Greatest Modern Rock Songs About Getting Drunk

6. Barenaked Ladies - "Alcohol"

Dropkick Murphys Bagpipes
Reprise

"Alcohol, alternative to feeling like yourself
Oh alcohol, I still drink to your health
I love you more than I did the week before
I discovered alcohol"

Even if you're not the biggest Barenaked Ladies fan in the world, and feel like their listenable output starts and ends with "One Week," it's damn near impossible to listen to this quirky, tongue-in-cheek ode to the merits of alcohol without getting the urge to pour yourself a stiff little concoction.

As with most BNL tunes, this is bouncy and buoyant in all the right places, coasting along on a simple, crisp guitar melody.

As an extra bit of fun trivia, it should be noted that the band fulfilled their tradition of recording one song per album in the nude by stripping down and rocking this one out. So feel free to think about that while you listening to them sing about alcohol being a "party-time necessity."
