10 Greatest Musical Duos Of ALL TIME
7. The Everly Brothers
In the days before rock and roll, the music scene was not exactly booming like we think of it now. Aside from the jazz and blues singers coming from the streets, most people tended to favor the type of dopey love songs you would get from the country music genre like Conway Twitty. Though this was a far ways away from someone like Johnny Cash, the Every Brothers became one of the true countrified acts to get the rock seal of approval.
While not writing every single one of their songs, the boyish charm of both Don and Phil Everly was enough to sell them, donning iconic black guitars and performing as if they were wasting the day away in their backyard. Then again, anyone who was listening came for the beautiful two part harmony vocals, which gave the songs that extra spice to find their way into your heart. As much as Bye Bye Love is a simple song, the rub between Phil and Don's voices drench it with sadness from the minute you hear it.
These kind of things weren't lost on the rest of the music world, being early inspirations for Paul Simon and Paul McCartney, along with being covered later by Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones. Despite having a bit of animosity towards each other, Phil and Don have become one of the greatest twosomes of the stone age of rock music.
