10 Greatest Musical Duos Of ALL TIME

8. Mick Jagger And Keith Richards

Off the back of the British Invasion, the rock community couldn't get enough of the old school rock and roll being imported from Europe. Despite acts like the Animals taking things in folkier directions, the Rolling Stones were as standard as the scene got, relying on blues covers rather than writing their own material in the early days. When they did show up with a few originals though, the reaction was rapturous.

Compared to what we would get out of their Liverpool cousins, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards brought something that was sorely needed to the rock community: menace. Although not every Stones song had a nasty bent to it, the delivery of the song always made it feel like something you shouldn't really be listening to. Just the sound of Keith Richards' guitar alone was enough to send a chill up your spine, until Mick's powerful blues imitations kicked the doors down.

Beyond just the Swinging '60s, the middle period for the Stones became even more profitable, taking the blues tropes that they had known as kids and making some classics of their own, even garnering a few tear jerking moments like Wild Horses and You Can't Always Get What You Want. While it's easy to dismiss the Stones as the jaded rock and roll stars, you have to have real heart behind your craft to have a run like this.
