6. The White Stripes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTH71AAxXmM Jack and Meg White surpass many counterparts in the alleged "garage rock revival" during the turn of the century through deceptively innocent lyricism and sheer energy. Their run of six studio albums encompass much of what was interesting as well as revolting about rock in the 2000s - an obsession with immaturity that often toes into affectation. Tendency for quirk aside, The White Stripes had an almost perfect batting average over the course of eight years. The lyrics of songs such as "Hello Operator" and "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" are enough to warrant their inclusion on this list, but Jack White's roaring guitar combined with Meg White's minimalistic drum arrangements are what cemented them as legends of their decade.
