10 Greatest Old School Death Metal Albums

2. Death - Leprosy

leprosyTrack List: 1. Leprosy 2. Born Dead 3. Forgotten Past 4. Left to Die 5. Pull the Plug 6. Open Casket 7. Primitive Ways 8. Choke on It Stand Out Track - Pull The Plug. Probably the greatest, most memorable chorus ever found in Death Metal. This track is dazzlingly executed in it's simplicity. Leprosy, released in 1988, is the second album by Death and emerged at a time when Death Metal was barely in nappies. Notably progressive in character and quality compared to their solid 1987 debut, 'Leprosy' signals Chuck Schuldiner's intention to evolve and challenge preconceptions at a very early stage in his career. Make no mistake, this is still just straight forward, old-school Death Metal but Chuck upped the ante in every department on this one. Gargling vocals, interesting lead work and a vast improvement in songwriting, 'Leprosy' was light years ahead of the competition on its release. Don't go expecting too much variety, this is a Death Metal album after all, just enjoy 8 tracks of killer hooks, infuriatingly memorable choruses and an album that is defiantly all killer, no filler! An intense album which never outstays its welcome, 'Leprosy's' importance to the genre cannot be underestimated.

I love Heavy Metal, and generally anything that involves a guitar and loud noises, so I figured it was about time I put all the useless information in my head to good use and start writing a few things. Most of the time I'll be writing nonsense but occasionally I may surprise myself and appear half-way knowledgable.....but you can be the judge of that. Thanks for your fleeting attention!
