10 Greatest Power Metal Albums Of All Time

6. Land Of The Free - Gamma Ray

Speed and aggression, balanced perfectly with melody, Land of the Free is yet another album that captures the very of the genre, within its tunes and words.

Built on a theme of good rebelling against evil, Land of the Free takes its listeners on an action-packed journey of breaking free of the shackles of oppression, with the power of melodies and guitar riffs. Kai Hansen's work on lead vocals was the driving force of the album, which is quite impressive considering he hadn't done this for a number of years leading up to the album.

Musically, the album can be compared to some of Hansen’s earlier work with Helloween (like really early Helloween). To be fair, it's probably a fitting comparison, because in many ways, Land of the Free saw Gamma Ray themselves go back to their roots.

Songs you should absolutely listen to include Rebellion in Dreamland and the title track.

After battling Galactus and pinning Hulk Hogan in the main event of Wrestlemania, I've taken a break from living in fantasy worlds, to focus on writing about them. I'm a comic book geek, a wrestling mark, a break dancer, and a scientist. One of those things may not be true.
