10 Greatest Rock Music One Hit Wonders

7. Unbelievable - EMF

As the '90s began to unfold, rock didn't really know what it wanted to be yet. While it was abundantly clear that hair metal was starting to breathe its last breath, nothing was really coming up to replace it yet, leaving a lot of weird acts to populate the charts in the meantime. Right before the Nirvana boom really set in though, there was a good possibility that a couple of dance rock kids from England were signaling the next wave of music.

Compared to the usual rock and roll that you were seeing at the time, EMF's Unbelievable was a lot different than the likes of Richard Marx. Here we had a band that was definitely guitar driven, along with sprinkling in different samples and electronic beats to create a dance like atmosphere every time they played. They were even generating some buzz on the indie scene, going out with acts like Jane's Addiction for a little while.

Grunge ended up killing a lot of careers though, and EMF was definitely one of them, with their place in the baggy scene going way too out of style for the rest of the decade. Then again, they may have just missed their window of opportunity. If they hit it big when the Britpop movement unfolded and the rise of other aggro acts like the Prodigy came to fruition, we could still be talking about EMF as cultural icons to this day.
