10 Greatest Rock Music One Hit Wonders

6. Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus

First thing right off the bat....no this is not a song written by Weezer. Yes, the singer does look a little like Rivers Cuomo, and Weezer did eventually do a cover of this song to further the confusion on the matter. This is all from Wheatus though, and they captured teen angst better than anyone else in the '00s on Teenage Dirtbag.

That's not to say that this is up there with some of the greatest rock songs of all time or anything. As it stands, this is the kind of teenybopper take on pop punk that would have been safe enough to get played on Radio Disney. From the minute this kid opens his mouth, you know you're in for one of the most twee versions of rock ever made, with a chorus that could be outrocked by 5 Seconds of Summer.

So why all the love for it? Well...there's a little thing called nostalgia that works in their favor here. As well as being one of the trademark songs of the '00s, Teenage Dirtbag captures a level of innocence that very few other pop punk bands can, as if these are the kids that got together after listening to Green Day and decided to form a band. This isn't the arrival of the next Nirvana. It's a bunch of kids stumbling their way into the world of pop, and there's something endearing about that.
