10 Greatest Rock Song Intros From The 1970s

6. Another Girl Another Planet - The Only Ones

Not as well-known as some of the other entries on this list, the build in dynamics and tension is followed by a mini guitar solo from John Perry that is a masterwork of composition in itself.

The opening is so perfect that it could almost end there without the vocal entering.

The intro is so great that few songs could follow it without sounding like an anti-climax. The Only Ones pull it out of the bag, and the guitar solo halfway through is the best on any record from the punk age.
