10 Greatest Shows In Rock History

9. Lollapalooza 1994

Correction: Woodstock 1994

Most of the greatest concerts of all time usually only look that way in hindsight. As much as it may have seemed like a burnt out farm to the people who were there, the magic coming off of the Woodstock stage back in 1969 felt like it had the power to change the balance of the entire music world. On the 25th anniversary though...we had something a little different going on.

Aside from the similar weather, the sound of these bands were nowhere near the Jimi Hendrix's of the world, exposing the rock scene to new and exciting bands of the alternative genre. Though almost every act walked away with fans after playing, no one took as much advantage as both Green Day and Nine Inch Nails.

Going on early in the day, Green Day started blasting through their tunes off of Dookie before an all out mud brawl started, with Billie Joe Armstrong throwing down his guitar and calling out all the hippies at the concert. By the time Trent Reznor took the stage, he was already clad head to toe in mud, blasting through Terrible Lie like he was summoning up the apocalypse on stage. Since most people got into the business for peace, love, and understanding at the original Woodstock, this is where everyone saw the future. We were young, hungry, and ready for all out war.
