10 Greatest Taylor Hawkins Moments In Foo Fighters Songs
9. Best Of You - In Your Honor
It's pretty easy to get lost in all of the Foo Fighters' hit songs after a while. Not that they're all the same...far from it. When you hear those walls of guitars though, hearing the radio pound them into your head over and over can get you fatigued every now and again. Then again, for as many guitars you may hear, the Foos are also known for their mammoth thunder coming from the back of the kit.
Though In Your Honor was meant to show you both sides of the coin in terms of what the band could do, Best Of You falls in the stadium rock category of songs, with the entire track being one big singalong anthem. It's almost a full minute before Taylor even makes his appearance, but when everything kicks in, it's like you got hit with a sucker punch listening back in your headphones.
As the guitars get more and more chaotic during the solo, Taylor ends up matching them beat for beat, especially in the syncopated section coming right before Dave's vocal comes back in. For as much as this might sound amazing coming out of the stadium speakers, Taylor manages to keep each drum hit incredibly tight up until the final few sections of the song, where he goes on a Keith Moon style drum fill. You could call it a drum solo if you wanted to, but this kind of work is just another day at the office for him.
