10 Greatest Taylor Hawkins Moments In Foo Fighters Songs
7. Aurora - There Is Nothing Left To Lose
For as much drama was going on with the Foo Fighters behind the scenes, it's a miracle that There is Nothing Left To Lose sounds as laid back as it does. After going through the touring cycle for the Colour and the Shape, Dave found himself losing almost half of the band and not knowing where to turn. When he decided to cool out back in Virginia, Aurora was where everything started to turn a corner.
Complete with a shimmery guitar line throughout the whole song, most people would probably just look at this as a tiny bit of nice filler in between the hits on here. When you peel back the layers of the song, this was one of the first tracks where the band started to gel as a trio, with Taylor and bassist Nate Mendel contributing to the arrangement a lot more.
As the band continued on in the process, Dave credits this one song for almost saving the band, knowing that they were still able to work together after being left at half capacity for a few years. Chemistry might be hard to come by in rock and roll, but when you find those bandmates that can work like this, it's more than just being on the same page. It's like your minds are on the exact same wavelength for those few minutes that the song lasts.
