10 Greatest Taylor Hawkins Moments In Foo Fighters Songs

5. Cold Day in the Sun - In Your Honor

From day one, Taylor was always known as the good time spirit of the band. Even if you knew that his live vocal renditions of Somebody to Love wasn't going to be up to Freddie Mercury's standards, you could never have a bad time whenever you saw him doing his thing on the stage. The Foos were never meant to be just Dave's band though, and Cold Day in the Sun gave us a glimpse of what the Taylor Hawkins Experience could look like.

Years before the days of Chevy Metal and The Coattail Riders, Taylor actually got behind the mic on the acoustic half of In Your Honor for this song, which feels like a ray of sunshine in between everything else. You have to remember that this was the more introspective side of the record, with songs like Still and Razor being a bit on the darker side than what Dave was used to writing.

It's not like this song is necessarily sunshine and rainbows though, but Taylor's attitude on this song is a lot more happy than anything else we could have asked for at this point. As the years go by and we sift through the rest of Taylor's material, this is probably the song that shows his personality the most. It might be on the softer side of the spectrum, but it has a ton of heart, and that's what Taylor was always about.
