10 Grunge Albums That Deserve More Love

9. Love Battery – Dayglo

Admittedly, not the strongest album in this list by any means, especially when compared to such of the heavyweights of the genre. However, though, Love Battery's Dayglo is a valiant effort that incorporates a lot of tonally outlandish aspects in the production, songwriting and vocals, while imbuing a sense of innovation within a genre that was at the peak of its popularity.

This may, in fact, be the nail in the coffin for the album. As people only really wanted to bask in the sadistic cynicism of more popular bands like Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins. Optimism was folly for any band that attempted to overshadow the giants, which makes this album commendable on that basis alone.

As the band strove to tune their instruments to a different sound that was still intrinsically linked to grunge, choosing to take some of their subject matter in a similar direction. 23 Modern Stories, Cool School and Blonde are all songs that don't really fit the main criteria of this non-mainstream type of music. Though there are songs like these that stray away from the format and formula of the then-past and present, for those of you that love to indulge in your doom and gloom, the band - which let's not forget is called Love Battery after all - still has multiple tracks of a dreary nature on this album.

Making it something that should not be understated in its accessibility to those outside of the confines of grunge and those veraciously squatting inside the walls of it.
