10 Hard Rock Albums That Are Worse Than You Remember

8. In Through the Out Door - Led Zeppelin

It's not that out of the question for rock fans to put a halo over every single thing that Led Zeppelin touched. As opposed to some of the more standard rock acts of the day, Zeppelin deserve all the credit in the world for pushing the genre forward, whether it was the blues worship of their debut or their flirtations with world music on Physical Graffiti. Going into the '80s though, the cracks were starting to form around the time of In Through the Out Door.

While Zeppelin's previous album Presence already was showing them working at half capacity, some of the songs on here work much better as recording ideas than actual fleshed out songs. Though there are some amazing cuts laced throughout the track listing like Fool in the Rain and Robert Plant's tribute to his son All My Love, some of the more "adventurous" tracks like Carouselambra and Hot Dog are often mentioned among some of the weakest Zeppelin tracks ever made.

This proved to only be a sign of harsh times to come, with John Bonham dying from alcohol poisoning before Zeppelin could hit the road to support the record. While Zeppelin was able to bow out gracefully in the next few years, they really deserved to go out on a better high note than this.
