10 Hard Rock Albums With Only One Good Song

9. Theater Of Pain - Motley Crue

After Motley Crue shocked the metal world with their sophomore release Shout at the Devil, the groundwork was set for the band to become the new kings of the Sunset Strip. On the other hand, the band's nefarious drug habits bogged them down so much they couldn't come close to equaling their previous effort.

Interestingly enough, Theatre of Pain is the one album that even the band members themselves admit is a horrible. Singer Vince Neil has even gone on record saying he probably couldn't name half the songs on the album because of how forgettable they are. The one shining light on the track listing here is "Home Sweet Home," whose sound came to define what would be known as the hair metal power ballad.

The song was so successful that the album sold in droves, but many of the other tracks tended to fall into the same holding pattern. Though listeners found a bit of levity with the band's rendition of "Smokin in the Boys Room," the rest of the album reeks of filler when compared to their massive hit. The band revolutionized the hair metal scene by breaking the power ballad, but it did end up costing them the rest of their record's quality.
