10 Hard Rock Bands That Made The Same Song Twice

Papa Roach's contributions to the rock scene have been uneven and sometimes misguided across the last decade, often feeling like the band don't quite know who they are anymore.

Nevertheless, they definitely know what has worked in the past, and Last Resort Reloaded arrived in 2021, with new verse, lyrics and vocals supplied by TikTok star Jeris Johnson. The story goes, singer Jacoby Shaddix and the rest of the Roach boys caught wind of Johnson's viral cover of Last Resort and took him straight to the studio to lay down a new version of the band's iconic single.

Rather than completely re-treading old ground, however, they replaced Shaddix's verses with Johnson's rap, pushed the iconic guitar riff further back in the mix and threw a trap beat over the top of it all. And yet, while it may be anathema to die-hard hard rock fans, it is as fun, alive, and headbang-able as the original. After all, Papa Roach were a key voice in the broader rap rock/nu-metal scene of the early 2000s, and that was nothing if not about experimenting with blending the elements of other genres into the rock and metal sound.
