10 Hard Rock Bands That Need To Be In The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

8. Jane's Addiction

Most of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's picks over the past few years have come down to bands that have sounded important rather than good. While there have been some definite highlights like Nine Inch Nails joining the ranks of the classics, a lot of the new recruits are either acts they're trying to play catchup with or people who had no real business getting popular in the first place. If you only look at the popular stuff though, you miss the pure magic standing right in front of you.

Ever since the '80s, Jane's Addiction has been the lynch pin of the entire alternative movement, with songs that were just as off the wall as they were infectious. Across tracks like Stop! and Been Caught Stealing, you can hear that these guys didn't give a sh*t about how they would be perceived, which is the same kind of attitude that rock and roll thrives on at the best of times.

Hell, even some of the more mainstream acts like Pearl Jam (who have made it into the Hall) have cited Jane's Addiction as one of the reasons why they play music. And let's not forget their primary involvement in Lollapalooza, which exposed the entire world to the alternative scene in a way few other artists could. Jane's Addiction might not be the first act that springs to mind for legend status, but when a group is seen as an influence on an entire generation, you might want to consider their place in history.
