10 Hard Rock Bands That Should Be In The Hall Of Fame (But Aren't)

4. Thin Lizzy

The classic Irish folk song Whiskey in the Jar has been around since the 1600s, but you'd be lying if you said you didn't know it primarily from the 1972 version by Thin Lizzy.

Fronted by Phil Lynott and hailing from the Emerald Isle, Thin Lizzy are one of the prime examples of a down-the-line, no-messing-about hard rock band.

Crunching guitars, pounding drums, clean vocals, the band are headbanging without ever straying into off-putting. Hard rock for the masses - what a novel idea.

Alongside Whiskey in the Jar, the band's hefty catalogue includes the anthemic The Boys Are Back in Town, Waiting for an Alibi, and the criminally underrated Jailbreak. All these tracks contain the band's trademark twin lead guitars, a strategy that would inspire countless others down the line.

Despite releasing their first album way back in 1971, it took the band until 2020 to get their first and only Hall of Fame nomination - and they didn't even get in!

Honestly, if bands from Ireland can't even get the nod, then what chance to the rest of the world stand?

Someone needs to fix this oversight, before the boys come back around.
